He'd have been proud to go to sea with you.

Additional thanks and a perpetual 'I owe you one' from me to you for kindly Tweeting about the preview of The Bones of the King and helping to spread the word. Your words flow so naturally like water in a stream or the ocean. I found myself very captivated with the interesting twist of events as your story unfolds and your very distinct Protagonist (DT Rhysing) and Antagonist (Syndey Hart) who are both very calculating characters, but extreme opposites in nature (good verses evil).
You have used your extensive knowledge of the sea and piloting a submarine to create such realistic settings. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading the first 5 chapters and look forward to reading the rest of your story, The Bones of the King ~ you got me hooked.
Thank you for giving us a sneak-peek with your teaser chapters. You’re a very gifted writer.
Much success to you,
Ann BaldwinAnn Baldwinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13894338280052819766noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006457779446525898.post-68327371643273580902010-07-19T22:10:37.493-07:002010-07-19T22:10:37.493-07:00Dear Justin,

I almost got turned around and lost in one with no water and not enough flashlight batteries. They can be very dangerous if you're not prepared.

Thanks for the input re the writing. I appreciate it a great deal. Characters are drawn from real life. I've known most of them and run from some.

Glad to have you aboard. Please spread the word if you can. Owe you several.

Aloha,

DougDouglas MacIlroyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01409271315301566155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006457779446525898.post-82438415447632884842010-07-19T07:42:15.340-07:002010-07-19T07:42:15.340-07:00OK now, every chapter has been a good read so far ...OK now, every chapter has been a good read so far as I eagerly await the next installment.Very clear and concise and I now have some sort of emotional attachment for all main players. I need to see how this all plays out. D T sounds like a colourful bloke who has the respect of all that know him. Nice technical aspects without being overblown with too many stats. Are there actual people you base your characters on ? Are the lava tubes really as big as you describe ? I enjoyed McCoys speed in the water told as 'a 3 day liberty he couldnt wait to get started on'.justin casehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07621362267789858712noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006457779446525898.post-41244975710385607162010-07-18T11:01:04.671-07:002010-07-18T11:01:04.671-07:00I think your baby is a darling, too, and very beau...I think your baby is a darling, too, and very beautiful, not ugly!

The frustration of my internet hanging up every time I try to post may be bleeding through to my post - sorry!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006457779446525898.post-13746894921821848732010-07-18T10:26:44.345-07:002010-07-18T10:26:44.345-07:00The 'Hot Runner' name is very probably goi...The 'Hot Runner' name is very probably going to change. The right one just hasn't come to me yet. It's a term for a runaway torpedo. Just waiting for the right replacement to show up.

Re D.T. and your connection I can only, for now, ask for your patience. He's coming soon. Your comments are helping me see the ugly baby in the face of the beautiful darling I gave birth to and I appreciate the time and thought you put into them.

Aloha,

DougDouglas MacIlroyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01409271315301566155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4006457779446525898.post-61273109669070377302010-07-18T09:31:55.407-07:002010-07-18T09:31:55.407-07:00I made a comment post earlier, but it disappeared....I made a comment post earlier, but it disappeared. If it comes back, you'll have to delete one of them.

The part where D.T. is noticing his shift in body weight during ascent is a really good opportunity to give me more insight into what he's thinking and feeling.

Enjoyed the description of what the Hot Runner looks like, and how it was designed with a manta ray in mind. But the name of the sub clashes with the design model... seems like it would be called something more evocative, but I can really imagine how it looks now.

Loved the phrase about the circuits howling as the fire consumed them.

I'm still too distant from the cast of characters in this POV, though. If you want me as reader to care about D.T., you're going to have to let me get closer to him somehow.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
